Amy Bartlett WrightAmy has worked for 28 years as a professional artist, as a freelance muralist and scientific illustrator of natural science material. She paints realistic scenes in large and small scale that create a sense of depth and dimension. Amy specializes in animals and their habitats and particularly enjoys depicting aquatic environments. Her recently completed murals and illustrations at Staten Island Zoo contributed to the exhibits’ Award of Merit in the Cultural Category for Best Projects in 2007, given by New York Construction magazine.

Amy received a BA in Scientific Illustration from University of Maryland in 1980. While at UM, she served an internship at the Smithsonian Institution learning scientific illustration in the Departments of Entomology and Botany. She furthered her studies in painting and drawing at Rhode Island School of Design, Continuing Education, where she earned a Certificate of Scientific and Technical Illustration in 1990 and is now part of the RISD/CE faculty. She enjoys exploring the woods, farmland and shoreline of her native Maryland and also as a long time resident of Rhode Island.
