Hanging Rock Ridge
Norman Bird Sanctuary

14 by 24 inches
Acrylic, 2005

This shows the scene along a trail upon a high cliff overlooking a wetland marsh and the distant ocean.  Despite rocky, craggy ground and poor soil, certain plants and animals still thrive in this harsh environment. This is an ideal spot for sighting migrating birds in the fall.  The image will be used on educational signage.

The grassy field is an important summer habitat for songbirds.  Various species of grasses and wildflowers mix here in sweeping view.  This image will be used on educational signage.

Woodland Trail
Norman Bird Sanctuary

14 by 24 inches
Acrylic, 2005

New England woods in fall are a pleasure to walk through.  You can hear more animals than you can see because they are hidden in the branches and under leaves for protection. In this habitat, the space feels like a room with walls and a ceiling and changing light.  The painting will describe the habitat on educational signage.

Waiting in Shallow Waters - Canada Goose
7 by 10 inches
Acrylic, 2004

One evening in September, I watched this Canada goose wade through shallow water.  She moved slowly, allowing me to study her.  With the horizontal blue and orange waves behind her, she turned, seeming to wait for someone.

Wood Ducks
7 by 10 inches
Acrylic, 2004

When hiking through wet woods one fall, I came across a pair of wood ducks in a woodland stream. Although we surprised each other then, the painting shows them together, relaxed. This is a most colorful North American bird.
